July 3, 1863, the brigade of Richard B. Garnett presses toward the copse of trees in the desperate assault commonly known as Pickett's Charge. In moments Garnett will be shot dead and many of his men killed or wounded in their valiant attempt to break the Union center. Following directly behind, is Gen.
