The 97th Regimental String Band traces its roots to Civil War reenacting. The music was, at first, merely an adjunct to our soldiering hobby. Eventually, we developed an extensive repertoire of music and discovered that these tunes are still crowd-pleasers, just as they have been for over 100 years. This recording captures the spirit of the late, great century. Our purpose is to preserve (and in some cases resurrect) the music that 19th Century Americans embraced. But we don't want to just collect it; we want to trot it out in front of the people again. Let it strut-dance-laugh-weep and do what it was meant to do... entertain! So, happy listening.
